If you have set up an outbound campaign or are triggering calls through the API and nothing is happening, the issue is usually one of a small number of configuration problems. Work through the checks below in order.

1. Check whether the agent is published

This is still the most common cause. If the agent has been created or edited but not published, the live version is either outdated or does not exist yet. An unpublished agent will not process campaign calls. Open the agent and confirm that the latest version has been published.

2. Check whether the originating number is assigned and configured

Outbound calls need a number to call from. Make sure:
  • the agent has an originating number assigned,
  • outbound routing is configured correctly for that number,
  • and the number is active inside the correct workspace.
If there is no valid outbound number attached, the campaign cannot place calls.

3. Check destination number formatting

All destination numbers must be in E.164 format. That means: +[country code][number] with no spaces, dashes, brackets, or local formatting. If your contact list contains malformed numbers, those calls may fail before launch or never enter the expected workflow properly. Validate your number format before pushing contacts into the campaign.

4. Check billing status

Go to the Billing page and confirm that your billing status is active. If the payment method has expired, been declined, or there is an unresolved Stripe issue, outbound calls may not be able to launch. This is easy to miss if the campaign logic looks correct but no calls are going out.

5. Check for rate limits or concurrency limits

If you are triggering a high number of calls at once, some requests may be queued, throttled, or rejected depending on account limits and current load. Check the Outbound Calls jobs table for request results or status indicators. If you are running a larger campaign, make sure your workflow is respecting both:
  • API rate limits,
  • and account concurrency limits.
If needed, reduce launch volume and test with a smaller batch first.

6. Check whether the external workflow is actually firing

If you are using Make.com, n8n, or a custom API integration, confirm that the workflow itself is running correctly. Review the execution logs and check that the API request to RapidCall is returning a successful response. Common workflow-side causes include:
  • expired API key,
  • incorrect endpoint URL,
  • malformed request body,
  • missing required fields,
  • invalid agent ID,
  • invalid originating number ID,
  • or missing destination phone number.

Best debugging path

If a campaign is not launching, check in this order:
  1. agent published,
  2. outbound number assigned,
  3. destination numbers valid,
  4. billing active,
  5. no rate-limit or concurrency issue,
  6. workflow request returning success.
In most cases, the problem becomes obvious once you verify those six points.
